BRIGHT Researchers’ Night - NEW EDITION: on September 30th the “underground train of knowledge” stops at Pisa and Pontedera

“BRIGHT 2016”, the new edition of Tuscany Researchers’ Night will be held on September 30 and the “underground train of knowledge” stops at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, too. In the 2016 edition participants include the Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute located in Pontedera -Polo Sant’Anna Valdera. The Tuscany Researchers’ Night represents a good opportunity to take a closer look at most innovative research projects and, above all, to meet talented, hardworking and enthusiastic researchers. They are the leading protagonists who will tell the audience about their research findings and developments.

The “underground train of knowledge” connects the universities and research centers which promoted the initiative. “BRIGHT”, the Tuscany Researchers’ Night is the event that is taking place simultaneously on September 30 in more than 300 cities of 24 European countries to focus on the importance of the research performance and the greater role of researchers – outdoor street events, talks, shows, debates and seminars will continue through the night. Researchers working at Sant’Anna School, University of Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore, CNR, INGV, INFN, IMT Lucca, will interact with people in many engaging ways through science shows, learning activities for children, science quizzes, and games. Members of local government council and research centers representatives will attend the inauguration ceremony which will be held at Pisa- piazza XX Settembre at 4.00 p.m.. Betta Blues Society concert and Radioeco entertainment will start at 9.00 p.m..

The events will be organized focusing on Health and Wellness, New Technologies, Sustainable Development, Natural and Cultural Heritage; Pisa high streets, San Cataldo Area (CNR and Department of Chemistry), the museums of the University of Pisa (admission free, open 6.00 -10.00 pm) and Calci are the locations connecting the many research centers in Pisa, research center par excellence.

The “underground train of knowledge” stops at Pontedera Sant’Anna Biorobotics Institute, to host the robot happy hour, great fun and learning experience for robotics enthusiasts.

There are also numerous activities scheduled in the cloister of Sant’Anna headquarters in Pisa – piazza Martiri della Libertà. Here visitors may find: the “smart gym” for premature babies; Octopus, the first "soft" robot inspired by the octopus morphology; "Nurture your plant," the Institute of Life Sciences discussing the effects of pollution on plants; virtual reality applications for preservation of cultural heritage by the Laboratory for Perceptual Robotics of TeCIP Institute (Communication Technologies, Information, Perception) and the photonic radar. At Sant’Anna headquarters you can see the project "Robot-Era" demonstration of how "social robots" interact with users.

At the exhibition stand Largo Ciro Menotti and under the arches of Logge dei Banchi, you can taste Toscolata, the nutraceutical chocolate, using organic ingredients cultivated in Tuscany; the "SunBlack", black tomato and new nutraceutical products by the Institute of Life Sciences and a session dedicated to heart health. At the Ritz bar, academics and lawyers of Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Development), Emanuele Rossi, Francesca Biondi dal Monte and Andrea Marchetti will talk about the "Constitutional reform".
